The Executive Commander is responsible for the overall operation of several functions within the Department including the daily operating functions of the Patrol Staff and the Detective Bureau. The Commander coordinates work activities and investigations between shifts, bureaus and outside agencies. The Commander assumes control of police activities in event of an emergency and at major crime and accident scenes. He is also responsible for the Dispatch/911 Communication Center, Building Operations, Department Vehicle Fleet, Emergency Preparedness Plan, The Department Operations Manual and all non-sworn employees of the Department. 1 Administrative Sergeant, 1 Detective Sergeant and 7 Patrol Sergeants assist him with these responsibilities.
The Executive Commander answers directly to the Chief or Police and assists with the yearly budget and with the development and implementation of department policies and procedures.
