Bicycle Patrol Unit

The Chesterfield Township Police Mountain Bike Unit was formed in 1988 by Officer John Papcun. It included himself and five other officers. At that time, the unit consisted of five Raleigh mountain bikes. Now in 2002, we have a total of seven bikes - five Raleigh and two Trek and a total of eight Officers and one Command Officer in the unit. The last mountain bike was donated to the department by the Target Corporation under their Law Enforcement Grant. The grant was in the amount of $1000.00. Each bike and equipment runs approximately $1200.00. The Chesterfield Bike Unit consists of the following Officers: Sgt. Bob Finazzo, Ofc. John Papcun, Ofc. Brian Chadwick, Ofc. Joe Feld, Ofc. Jill Gray, Ofc. Rick Rhein, Ofc. Eric Meier , Ofc. Brandon Pace and Ofc. Aaron Robinson.

The Bike Unit is designed to provide community policing services to residential, apartment, condo and mobile home communities, as well as the business community, by making the officers more approachable than they normally would be in their patrol vehicles.

If anyone has any questions regarding the Chesterfield Township Bike Patrol Unit or any other community policing questions, please feel free to contact Sergeant Bob Finazzo at (586) 949-3829.
