CCW Permit Packets
CCW permit packets are available at the Chesterfield Township Police Department. The Sheriff's Department fingerprints the CCW applicants. Then all completed forms are to be directed to the Macomb County Clerk's office not to the Police Department.

Gun Purchase Permit
For those who have the newer CCW Permit (blue), it may not be necessary to obtain a permit in order to purchase a gun.

Must have a valid Michigan Driver's License or a Michigan I.D. and live in Chesterfield Township.

Criminal history must not disqualify you from obtaining a permit.

The State of Michigan requires that the purchaser complete a Basic Pistol Safety questionnaire.

Provide information and sign the Purchase Permit form. The Purchase Permit form shall then be notarized and signed by the Chief or Sheriff.

Take the Purchase Permit form to the place of purchase within 10 days of completing form. The seller will retain the seller copy. Then bring the two completed remaining copies of the Purchase Permit to the Police Department within 10 days of purchase. At that time, the purchaser will complete the Gun Registration form.

Gun Registration
While registering the gun, no ammunition will be allowed to enter the Chesterfield Police Department

Bring the gun and the top two portions of the Purchase Permit to the Police Department for registration. The weapon must be unloaded. Automatics must have the slides back and the magazines removed. Revolvers with double action cylinders must be opened and guns with single action cylinders must be removed.

After completing the Gun Registration form, the serial number will then be typed into the Law Enforcement Information Network.

You will then be given a completed Safety Inspection Certificate to keep for your records. If you have inherited a gun, you may be requested to bring a Death Certificate upon registration.
